On Knowing

We think we need to know; we think we can know; we want to know our life’s plan; we want to know we’re right; we want to know we’ll avoid mistakes. We won’t. Why do airplanes spend big money on a guidance system? They’re off track 95% of the time; they wouldn’t know where they were without one! Life is uncertain. You create your path by stepping into the uncertainty … then listening (like the guidance system) to where you are, then evaluate what comes next. The “felt experience” you gain in this life-long process is “life.” Having a clear mind creates far more possibility than having all the answers.
