On Conflict

Disagreement is part of life; conflict is optional. Disagreement is “difficult” only because habituated thinking tells us it is. Fear of the difficult leaves us more likely to react from defense than possibility … so we choose anger or avoidance (equally ineffective strategies), blinding us to the possibility of dialogue as a path beyond. We don’t need better conversation skills; we need better seeing and thinking skills.
